Figurative maps by J. T. Turbio

Well, this is another special way of making fictional maps: From a distance, you see a drawing of a tree, a human head or heart. And when you look closer, you see that it’s actually a black and white map, where the different block structures, densities and street grids are used to create the different shades needed for the large picture. But still, you can imagine to live there! Both, all the small details of the map like buildings or squares on the one hand – and the large form composed out of the map struture are totally impressive. Have a look at Jeronimo T. Turbio’s blog and see more of his drawings.
